This was purchased to replace a defective 4 year old Lorex box. My cameras were all still working so I just purchased this to use with the existing setup. Installation was a breeze. Just follow the directions in the manual and you’ll be on your way.
The app is a little clunky but will do what’s needed, it just takes a little longer.
Overall so far, I would recommend or purchase again.

Terrible Software, Okay Hardware, Responsive Email Support, January 18, 2020

Summary – dead hard drive, atrocious software, responsive email support via Coco, unit seems capable considering the price
I bought a 16ch with 2TB drive – $150. The unit arrived with a dead hard drive (name brand hard drive). I followed their FAQ to confirm the hard drive was dead. Emailed support. At this point I’m assuming this will go nowhere and I will have to return to Amazon. Received response within hours. I spent a couple of days emailing back and forth and they finally acknowledged the drive was broken.
I suggested simply replacing the drive (didn’t want to go through all the motion detector setup again). They said they will send me a mailing label for the DVR I had. I insisted they send me a new one first. Back and forth a couple of times and they said okay. I received it in 3 days. Took 7 days from original receipt of order to conclusion. All was fine.
The desktop and mobile software work but are just barely serviceable. Watching recordings is almost impossible since they’re almost impossible to locate via time. It could be that I haven’t figured it out yet since that’s been my experience with most of the features.
I was a bit skeptical about support via email but it was responsive and worked fine. In retrospect, it was probably better than phone tag, voicemail, and hold. Thanks Coco.
Remote viewing is impossible, March 8, 2020

This DVR works in a barely adequate way locally. You can view your cameras in real time on a monitor, and while it does record, you are unable to set record for motion only even though they advertise as such (thus filling up the entire hard drive space with pointless recordings where nothing is going on, which also makes searching for actual events quite frustrating as you can imagine). However, remote viewing is such a difficult and overbearing task that it makes having this DVR essentially the same as not having one at all. I typically enjoy viewing my cameras on a PC, since I work off site fairly frequently, and being able to alt tab between my work and the cameras makes life much easier. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get the PC client to work on either of my three PCs (Dell Windows 10 desktop, HP Windows 10 desktop and HP Windows 10 laptop). Customer service has claimed there is a problem with my OS install, firewall settings, or internet connectivity, which I find hard to believe since the two desktops are in different locations connected to different routers, and my laptop has not been able to make the client stream the camera feeds on any wireless network or on Verizon mobile data. I have gotten the Android app to work on occasion, but it is frequently very buggy, either being able to only load a few streams, being stuck on one single camera and unable to switch to other cameras, or unable to load anything whatsoever. I constantly need to kill the app and restart it in order to attempt viewing anything.
Long story short, save your money. This is a bad investment any way you look at it.
